What you need to know

Register via FoodTrader (foodtrader.vic.gov.au). Annual Food Act registration, valid calendar year, paid by 31 December. EHO inspection required for new mobile food businesses. SOT required via FoodTrader at least 1 business day before each event. Trading on Council land (foreshore, parks, reserves) requires a separate local law permit — foreshore sites in particular are tightly controlled; contact Council on 5950 1000 before planning any beach-area trading. Some foreshore sites managed by Parks Victoria or Crown Land — additional approvals may be required from the relevant authority. Covers Frankston South, Mornington, Mount Martha, Rosebud, Sorrento, Portsea, Red Hill, Flinders areas. Very popular with food trucks during summer season.
