What you need to know

TWO SEPARATE PROCESSES: (1) Food Act Registration (FoodTrader) — one-off application fee $268; annual ongoing fee $0–$950/yr depending on food class and risk level (Class 4 notifications attract no registration fee). EHO vehicle inspection required before registration granted. Review Mobile Food Vehicle Guidelines 2026 before applying. (2) Council Land Permit (required to sell food on Council land — parks, streets, reserves) — apply via My Port Phillip portal. Application fee: $313.85. Permit fee for up to 3 locations: $2,869.30. Foreshore trading sites limited — fixed-term licences via EOI; contact Property team 03 9209 6777 or property@portphillip.vic.gov.au for current status. SOT required via FoodTrader at least 1 business day before each event. Renewal notice sent November; must be paid by 31 December. Covers St Kilda, South Melbourne, Port Melbourne, Elwood areas.
