What you need to know

TWO SEPARATE APPROVALS: (1) Mobile Food Business Licence (Food Act 2006) — required before trading anywhere. Apply via ipswich.qld.gov.au/business/local/food-licences/mobile-business. For businesses not previously licensed with Ipswich: EHO inspects vehicle before licence issued. For businesses already licensed: provide evidence of current registration. Annual renewal. FEE: $760 base renewal (CONFIRMED 2025-26). EAT SAFE IPSWICH DISCOUNT: 3★ $608 (20% off), 4★ $532 (30% off), 5★ $380 (50% off). Charities/NFP: 50% off, no further Eat Safe discount. (2) Food Truck Site Licence (max $115 for 2025-26) — required to access the pre-approved Council location booking tool. 13+ pre-approved locations across Ipswich LGA including Bob Gamble Park/River Heart Parklands, Limestone Park, Colleges Crossing, Kholo Gardens, Springfield Lakes parks, and more. Apply via online portal (epathway.ipswich.qld.gov.au) or download form from Council website. Requires: copy of food business licence, $20M PLI certificate of currency, food truck menu, photograph and logo. Once approved, book pre-approved locations at au.openforms.com/Form/b1da31f7-35e9-4bb8-80dd-29d14769f902. ALTERNATE LOCATIONS: if trading at a non-approved location, apply for a Roadside Vending Licence instead (ipswich.qld.gov.au/Business/Other-Licences/Roadside-Vending). Public Liability Insurance

Ipswich City Council requires a minimum of $20M public liability cover. Arrange this before you lodge your application — councils will not approve without a current certificate of currency.

Annual renewal fee $760 confirmed as the 2025-26 amount (Ipswich Register of Fees and Charges 2025-26 v3; corroborated by ABLIS Aug 2026 which still lists $760 renewal, $74 restoration, $401 water carrier as 2025-26 fees).
