What you need to know

FOOD TRUCKS NOT PERMITTED: North Sydney Council policy explicitly prohibits food trucks — only small food vans/vehicles are allowed (not trucks). LIFETIME REGISTRATION (low-risk stalls $45, high-risk stalls $91, one-time fee confirmed from council website July 2026). No SOT requirement found in Council guidance. Registration is ONE-TIME — no annual renewal unless business details or menu significantly changes. Processing time 2–3 weeks. Urgency fee: $80 for 1–3 business days, $55 for 4–10 business days. Additional restrictions on vans: cannot operate within 100m of a commercial zone; cannot operate on classified roads; cannot operate on any reserve or Council car park; max 20 minutes per location in 24 hours; must drive minimum 100m before stopping again; 8am–8pm only. Email form to customerservice@northsydney.nsw.gov.au or apply in person at 200 Miller Street. Food Safety Supervisor required for ready-to-eat potentially hazardous food.
