What you need to know

CRITICAL: Mobile food vehicles are NOT permitted to trade on Council land, footpaths, roadways, parklands, public parking areas, or beachfront locations. Private land trading ONLY — must get landowner permission before trading. FEE STRUCTURE (2026-27, confirmed from Bayside Council Fees & Charges 2026-27 schedule, p.24): Annual administration fee for vehicles: $390/year per vehicle (Food Regulation 2015 s.15). Flat rate — no risk-tier split for vehicles. Unchanged from 2025-26. Separate per-event temporary food premises fees also exist: outlet application $327, stall application $162, inspection $214/half-hour — these apply to temporary stalls/events, not ongoing MFV annual registration. Food Safety Supervisor required. Food safety inspection may be conducted at any time. Council has been actively consulting on an Activation of Council Land Policy (draft presented to Council June 2026, community engagement mid-2026, final decision anticipated late 2026). Check yoursay.bayside.nsw.gov.au for current status — if adopted, this policy may open public land trading sites. IMPORTANT: Do not assume policy has changed until confirmed by Council.
