FEE STRUCTURE (2026-27, confirmed from Ballina Shire Council Fees and Charges 2026/2027 adopted 25 June 2026): FOOD BUSINESS REGISTRATION: Mobile Food Van annual fee: $350/yr (GST-free, up from $337 in 2025-26, +3.9%). Market Casual Food Vendors (per event, GST-free): High Risk $160, Medium Risk $130, Low Risk $90. Not-for-profit/charity stalls: no charge. Public Health Events inspection fee (trading at events on public or private land): $385/hr. Inspection fee for new businesses or non-compliance: $250/hr. Improvement Notice: $565. MOBILE VENDING ON PUBLIC LAND (Open Spaces section, GST-free): Application fee: $138 (up from $133). Annual Roads and Car Parking Permit (general roaming public roads and car parks): $440/yr (up from $424). Annual Location Specific Permit (non-EOI fixed location): $2,985/yr (up from $2,878). TWO APPROVAL PROCESSES: (1) Mobile Food Vending Vehicle Registration — required for all vehicles before trading anywhere. Apply via online form at mobile-food-vending-vehicle.paperform.co. Annual registration; EHO vehicle inspection required before approval — contact Health and Environment Section to arrange. (2) Mobile Vendors on Public Land Approval — for trading on public roads and reserves. Apply using Mobile Vending on Public Land Application Form (PDF at ballina.nsw.gov.au). Governed by Mobile Vending on Public Land Policy (adopted November 2023). Food Safety Supervisor required for any potentially hazardous food not in original packaging.
